A date, death of a dog, dental work .... and a dragon tattoo.

What constitutes a perfect date in your mind?

Yesterday, I met Dr. Rob at The Woodshed (very cool patio in Fort Worth).  As soon as I arrive I see a look of stress on his face.  He has been dog-sitting for a friend for the last few days.  The friend and his wife are in Mexico on vacation.  The dog is only 7 months old and Rob said that he had been acting a little "off" since Friday.  He had not eaten or had any water, he was almost lethargic.  The dog had not wanted to do anything but sleep.  Right before I arrived, he received a phone call from his 15 year old son saying that the dog was now bleeding from his backside.  The ex wife was on her way to Rob's to get the kids for a day at the water park and offered to drop off the dog at their vet's office.

We ate and drank for about an hour when the vet calls Rob.  The dog has Parvo, had likely had it for several days and recommended that he be put down immediately. WHAT?  Rob said  no, not until he was able to reach the friend in Mexico.  The vet said that was fine but the dog was in an extreme amount of discomfort and wanted to have this handled by the time the clinic closed at 7pm.  He called and called and called.  We decided to head to his house to swim and wait for the return call.

By 6:45pm there was still no word from Mexico so, down went the dog.  It was very sad and Rob was obviously uncomfortable but the vet said there was no other choice.  Did I mention that the friends first dog died about a year ago?  That was just old age but the friend was crushed and Rob is the one that talked him into getting this puppy.  I will now refer to Rob as the Canine Dr. Kevorkian.

So, after that exciting afternoon what does one do?  Sunday night dental work of course!

While at lunch the good dentist noticed a tiny chip in my front right tooth. It had been there forever and it never worried me until he spotted it. Yes friends, we went to his office and he filled in the chip and polished my fangs. It was hot!  I am going in for Zoom teeth whitening later in the week, there are perks to dating a dentist.  He is also going to take a look at The Kidlet's cavity when she returns from her trip which will save ex hubs and myself a $500.00 fee.

I then somehow got roped into watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo which was WAY to graphic for me but after our chaotic day, it was relaxing.  I can't wait to find out what is on the agenda for the coming weekend.

I think the whole afternoon sounds exciting, and Dr. Rob is definitely interested. Yay!!

Sorry to hear about the pooch. That is really sad, and the owners are REALLY going to be upset, but there was nothing Dr. Rob could do. Time to head back to the shelter for another.

P, he is interested for sure (as am I). It was one crazy day. The owners were initially upset but they understood when they finally called.
